Dave Porter in Billboard Magazine
Check out the latest issue of Billboard Magazine – there is a full-page article on my home studio on page 19.
To my friends in Europe — I’m honored to have been asked to be a guest and judge at the upcoming 2013 Transatlantyk Festival in Poznan, Poland the first week of August. I’ll be teaching a master class in Scoring for TV and participate as a judge in one of the music-related competitions. The festival was created by Oscar winning composer Jan Kaczmarek and other guests include Yoko Ono, Thurston Moore, Marco Beltrami, and many others. To learn more, check this link: Hope to see some of you there!
A really nice mention in this Yahoo article today… very, very kind of them, although I should point out that in addition to my score I was also errantly credited with song choices. (Composers almost never choose songs… that’s the task of a music supervisor).
I confess I enjoy being labeled “Powerful,” though… especially since I haven’t been able to get to the gym in months! 😉

I had a great chat about Breaking Bad on Dan Miles’s podcast “Friends of Dan.” He’s interviewed some legendary musicians and I was honored to be invited. Check it out!

‘Breaking Bad’ Writer/Director/Producer George Mastras had some very nice things to say about my music in his episode, “Dead Freight,” in the New York Magazine blog The Vulture.
To accompany the action, Mastras knew he wanted to hear something rhythmic that built in little peaks of suspense. Series composer Dave Porter wrote a pulsating thirteen-minute piece befitting a wacked-out Western. “There are several near-misses,” he says. “Maybe the train won’t stop? Maybe Jesse gets crushed because Walt’s being an egomaniac? I wanted the music to rise and fall and ultimately crescendo into them pulling this crazy thing off.” (Source)

Earlier this month I answered questions from ‘Breaking Bad’ fans on Reddit’s AMA (Ask Me Anything). It was a great experience. You can see their questions and my answers here.
I had a good time on the Independent’s Day podcast with Joe Armstrong last night… for anyone interested that didn’t catch it live, it is now posted for streaming at your leisure. Best of all, I managed not to swear!
I was actually surprised to see this news item, in this new era of Netflix, but it is certainly welcome news! Breaking Bad will live on in syndication for new fans to stumble upon…

Film Music Reporter picks up on the news that I will be scoring the upcoming ABC drama ‘Red Widow’ – premiering March 3rd. My first foray onto one of the “Big 4” American networks. I had the great pleasure of working with writer/producer Melissa Rosenberg (Dexter, the Twilight films) and a terrific group of talented folks on it.
